The ED Falcon, introduced in August 1993 would remain in production for 12 months. It served as a minor facelift and a minor upgrade to the EB Falcon. Over 280 changes occurred from the EB to the ED.

Despite the large number of changes, visually the car looked very similar to the EB series 2, with arguably the most noticeable visual change being the shape of the grille.

The ED to many was just the continuation of the EB which was given a different name. many believe that more significant changes happened from the EB series 1 to the EB series 2 than from the EB series 2 to the ED.

Like the two models prior to it, the ED was available only as a sedan and a wagon, no utility options were on offer. The XG Falcon panelvan and Ute were available alongside the ED Falcon.

Essentially, the ED was released to tie buyers over as the new shape EF was still a year away from production. Ford was in close competition with Holden at the top of the sales list and was not willing to give up any ground to its main competitor.

On offer were two inline 6’s and two V8’s as well as a 4 speed automatic and a 5 speed manual transmission.

During the year the ED Falcon was in production, just over 72 500 were produced with prices starting from $25 255
