10 facts you may not have known about the BF
The BF Falcon, brought in to replace the BA Falcon. The BA spend 3 years on the production line. Cosmetically, relatively minimal changes featured compared to the last two Falcon model changes.
Most of the changes from the BA to the BF focussed on the ride and handling and engine refinement of the car. Many people who have driven both a BA and a BF Falcon can tell them apart much better from behind the wheel than they can from the outside of the car. A true credit to Fords engineers who over time had gained the reputation of being amongst the best automotive engineers the world has to offer.
The engines carried over from the BA, refined to make them quieter, smoother and more powerful at no expense to fuel efficiency.
Production of the sedan and utility variants would continue up until 2008 when they were replaced by the current model FG Falcon. The BF wagon would continue production until 2010. When production of the BF wagon ended no replacement was imminent. Only the sedan and the ute sold from 2010 onwards. This was a somewhat questionable move by Ford Australia as the Falcon wagon was by far the most popular choice by taxi companies in most states in Australia.
The BF Falcon was the first Falcon to offer a 6 speed manual transmission. The 4 speed automatic and the 5 speed manual were also carried over from the BA.
The BF Falcon was priced from $35 880.
