The upgrade, featured mainly an exterior facelift, loosely based on other European Ford models such as the Ford Mondeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new code, like the preceding FG, pays homage to the Fairmont&nbsp;Ghia nameplates of past generations whereas the&nbsp;X&nbsp;points to the Falcon&#8217;s most popular series, the X series. This runs from the XR to the&nbsp;XF (1966 &#8211; 1988). No wagon would be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Ford&#8217;s manufacturing plant shutting down, the FG X was only produced for a little less than two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 6 cylinder &#8216;Barra&#8217; engine carried over from the previous model FG. By the time the FG-X debuted, the Barra engine featured in Falcon models for 12 years. Including Utility sales made throughout the same duration, this would bring the tally to approximately 16,100.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FG-X would be the last Falcon model produced.
