The XW Falcon, introduced in June of 1969 represented a major facelift of the previous model. All body panels were new. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The XW would introduce one of the most legendary Falcon shapes to date, the same shape that would be carried over to the XY Falcon, a body shape that has become ubiquitous with the Australian muscle car scene of the 1970\u2019s. It would go on to become one of the most recognisable body shapes in Australian motoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All engine and transmission options were carried over from the previous model XT Falcon as they were originally introduced with the XT. Revisions were made to the mechanicals to increase performance as well as fuel efficiency. Power and performance were still at the top of the agenda for Ford mechanically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cosmetically they were after a\nsquarer, more aggressive look to match their increasing power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popularity was really starting\nto increase for the Ford Falcon with the introduction of the XW. It sold better\nthan any of the previous models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The XW Falcon was the first Australian Falcon to produce over 100 000 cars with 105 785 made. Prices started at $2 320. The XY replaced the XW in October 1970. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

XW Falcons in original condition fetch a premium on the second hand market. The higher spec GT and any V8 version is worth a lot but even the base model inline 6\u2019s fetch much more than the Holdens of the same era.<\/p>\n\n\n
